The home uniform changed from a V-neck shirt to a button-up shirt, and the home uniform was basically the same as the pr...evious design except for the change to a button up-style, but the design of the away uniform was dastrically changed with the stripes gone and a new Y-neck uniform being introduced, with white and black lines on the sides of the arms and of the legs and of the Y-neck, with the "HANSHIN" wordmark changed to a block font similar to the one sported by the Pittsburgh Pirates. Both the logo and numbers have white outlines.
The cap retains the design that was changed in 2000 for both home and away uniforms.
Wearing this uniform, the Tigers achieved the Central League championship in 2003 and 2005, entering their heyday again, regaining the image of a traditional prestigious powerhouse team and the lost popularity, but, while they advaned to the Japan Series twice, they lost both times. In 2003, they lost to the Fukuoka Daiei Hawks after a fierce battle which lasted until the 7th inning, but in 2005, the Tigres lost to the Chiba Lotte Marines.
